Adding a website on your website increases the trust factor X (2)
I always find websites without a phone number shady as hell. Infact it's the first thing I look for. If you put in a phone number that should really add in the trust. Most people don't have a dedicated business phone but don't let that discourage you.
For the longest time I used my cell phone and I always answered by saying, "Elemental Beats....."
I now have a dedicated phone line at home now but a phone number on your website is so key.
I always thought it wouldn't matter when it came to sites that were selling digital goods (ie. beats), where the product is delivered immediately, and you know what you're getting. Of course, this depended on the site laying out information well, so the customer has all of their questions answered.
Once I stopped to think about it, though, I did notice a subconscious trust that was placed in my mind when noticing people had their numbers listed on their site. Even though I knew as a customer I wouldn't need to contact them, it was nice knowing I could.
That's why I decided to include mine. It took it to another level as far as legitimacy. People trust you more if they feel they can get in contact with you easily. Even when they plan to never contact you.
'@itbangz' Definitely respect your view, but from experience, I can tell you that I have closed several deals over the phone. These are sales I would not have gotten if they didn't call.
I wouldn't let scam calls ruin potential sales, usually quick questions over the phone lead to sales.
I personally do not put a phone number on my beat store, but i do on other sites i run. And to avoid the awkward, "hello..." instead of answering with your "business" name, i recommend setting up a free google phone number, you can set up an answering machine to pick up and answer with your business name.
Yes businesses have their phone numbers published on their websites, but its a dedicated line and dont answer "whos this?" lol. This is why a dedicated free google number is great.
Also, if you do want to post your number on a site, i recommend using an image for the number or putting capital "O's" for zeros, if any, to throw off the bots. You can also use JS obfuscate but the first 2 are way easier ;)
