As the title of this thread states, you can now upload a video for your header. We designed it to look awesome on a desktop and on mobile devices, the video plays inside the header frame seamlessly.

    Live Demo: http://eplayer.soundgine.com/

Adding a video is a simple upload with a few extra features added. You can

    1. Upload a center logo
    2. Add 2 lines of centered text
    3. Both logo and text have opacity control from 50%-100% so you can blend it with the video perfectly
    4. By default there a pixel screen that covers the video to make it darker, this is to make your text or logo more visible, but we gave you the option to turn it off.

    To do:
    Adding a preloader

To access this feature, navigate to
Vue > Header Image / Video

From our testing, loading times are very quick if you follow some basic rules.

    - Keep your video under 30mb
    - mp4 format
    - 1280 x 720 (other sizes just won't scale correctly)
    - Remove audio (obvious reasons)

When done right, we feel that a video header can really bring VUE a new and exciting angle. This is first of many steps to give VUE the attention it deserves. A VERY big up to @Codemaker for teaming hard on this one.

    Enjoy everyone!

Looks amazing on a mobile device too, almost no load time. Damn, now I have to think of a video to post. We need a "VUE header ideas" thread.

That looks slick as hell. Think I'm sold on video headers , this one loads fast but a preloader would be a good idea for people on America Online dial up.

    awesome stuff @Codemaker @Soundgine

Thank you everyone. I'll release a how-to video later today, although it's very straight forward.

Nice little eye-candy update. Looks pretty cool guys nice job, Im a little worried about loading speeds being slower now, this kind of reminds me of the old myspace days when everyone had super flashy backgrounds and all these animations that would make the website SUPER SLOW.

Now I will have to try and create some new visual ideas for this XD

@countmorris Same here! One of the major reasons for me switching to VUE was the sheer speed. I don't know that I want to do anything to jeopardize it. I've seen a few examples already of people's new headers and it's affecting their load times. Maybe they're just loading too large of files, though.

Video will always load slower than a graphic, that's just common knowledge but the loading time isn't that bad, of course this depends on the users internet speed, the rest of VUE shows up. We'll be adding a percentage later tonight to show a user something is loading for people that do in fact have slow internet.

All that being said, you still have a choice between using a graphic and video.

@wellmein You are very welcome. You have been using VUE from the very start, you may have been part of the 1st generation even.

Everyone should expect more updates for VUE coming including new fonts as @MessyBeatz mentioned about a week ago.

Removing the "screen" effect from your image header

This update is adding a "screen" effect on your header image, some people may like it, others won't.

To remove the screen effect, go to

    1. VUE > Header Image / Video >

    2. Show Image / Video Screen Overlay

    3. Choose "No"

~I think using an animated GIF may also help a bit with load times if the mp4 format is too much for some. I was using a GIF for a while before this feature came I don't think it is too bad but it still does increase the load time more than a static image.

Anyways I'm glad this feature finally came and the option is there to use it.

10 seconds sounds about right but it's hard finding the right loop for that but obviously it can be done.
